Hello All,
I am sorry that I had to cancel class today, I am still not feeling very well. I want to make sure you understand that Assignment #1 is that you post your URL (yourname.blogspot.com) to the Assignment #1 link on the Course Menu located on the left side of the Blackboard screen. If you click the Assignment Tab and then click the Assignment #1 link you will see another link titled "type submission". Click this link and copy/paste your URL there. Click submit. That's it!
Now in the Syllabus it mentions submitting your blog to LiveText. This is for College of Education majors only, I repeat only if you are in the College of Education will you need to worry about LiveText. I will briefly go over LiveText at a later class date but this is something that I do not have much knowledge of or any control over so if you are a College of Education major and this is the first time you are hearing about LiveText you need to contact your advisor.

Recap of 8/26/2013
Today in class:
Synopsis of Lecture
Educational Technology means something different to everyone and can incorporate a broad array of tools, techniques, procedures, and systems. Beginning to understand that technology is not only hardware but procedures, tools, and software is the first step toward successfully incorporating technology into your classroom.
Education majors need to be aware of the organization that surrounds Educational Technology (ISTE which developed the NETS). Education majors also need to be aware of NCATE which is the accrediting body that awards teaching certificates.
Technology is advancing at a substantial rate and kids are learning faster and faster which requires teachers to continue to learn and adapt. Technology literacy or the pursuit of continued education is essential to teaching and learning in the 21st century.
As you all begin your journey towards teaching you also must be aware of the policies that surround our schools here in Alabama and the country. The No Child Left Behind Act is a key player in how curriculum and policy are handed down as well as how technology will be incorporated in the schools.
- Students were reminded that they need to complete their introductory discussion post for 1st time participation points.
- Reminded that their module 1 discussion post are due tonight at 11pm
- Reminded that their Assignment #1 creating a blog is due Wednesday 8/28 at 11pm

What do I put on my Blog?
Some of you had the question about what you are suppose to do with your blog now that you have created it...well..
The blog serves as a journal of
your assignments for the course. So each assignment that you turn in to me on
Blackboard will also be posted to your blog. Under the Assignment tab on the
left hand side of Blackboard there should mention adding each assignment to the
blog and or reflecting on the assignment in the blog. So Assignment #2 and
Assignment #3 asks you to just post your paper to the blog, but Assignment #3
asks you to post the URL to your Wikispace and write a reflection about the
assignment.
Education majors will turn in the URL's to their blog to LiveText which is a requirement of our SACS accreditation. If you do not understand LiveText or this is the first you have heard of it please let me know so I can get you in touch with the appropriate staff, LiveText is a College wide requirement and I have no control over it.

1st Day of Class Participation Points
Hi Everyone,
For the first class (8/21) participation points everyone needs to go to the discussion link on the left hand side under the Course Menu and post to the Introduce yourself forum. Just a few sentences. I see some of you have already done so. Try and get this done by next Monday 8/26.
Now that I have Blackboard working correctly I will be a little more organized come Monday. See, we teachers have bad First Days too!
