Synopsis of Lecture
Educational Technology means something different to everyone and can incorporate a broad array of tools, techniques, procedures, and systems.  Beginning to understand that technology is not only hardware but procedures, tools, and software is the first step toward successfully incorporating technology into your classroom.

Education majors need to be aware of the organization that surrounds Educational Technology (ISTE which developed the NETS). Education majors also need to be aware of NCATE which is the accrediting body that awards teaching certificates.

Technology is advancing at a substantial rate and kids are learning faster and faster which requires teachers to continue to learn and adapt.  Technology literacy or the pursuit of continued education is essential to teaching and learning in the 21st century.

As you all begin your journey towards teaching you also must be aware of the policies that surround our schools here in Alabama and the country.  The No Child Left Behind Act is a key player in how curriculum and policy are handed down as well as how technology will be incorporated in the schools.
